PROTECTION OF FACING SYSTEM IN BRICK,NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL STONES, PLASTER, CONCRETE.

When mineral materials or degraded ancient artifacts present problems of chalking, disintegration or poor cohesion, it is necessary to proceed with a preconsolidating treatment before any cleaning or protection intervention. This will allow the support to recover its original consistency. Atmospheric and polluting agents, as well as the inevitable wear and tear of time, attack historic materials, compromising their integrity and aesthetic appearance. These phenomena can be counter-established by the use of suitable protective products.

Surface protection against water are a common requirement for many materials in the construction sector such as bricks, concrete, stone and wood.

Water infiltration inside the material is just one of the main reasons for degradation, giving rise to multiple decay effects, such as:

– cracks due to expansive effects caused by freeze / thaw cycles of the absorbed water;

– salt efflorescence and damage due to hydration phenomena and crystallization of soluble salts;

– infiltration of humidity up to the internal walls;

– fungus and algae rooting;

– penetration of polluting substances carried by water, with the possibility of material degradation;

– cosmetic damage due to stains of dirt, rust and washout.

SOLUTION

To decrease water absorption and therefore the inevitable degradation of face-to-face coatings, a hydrophobic impregnation is required that makes the substrate water-repellent. The hydrophobing and consolidation treatment must not, however, obstruct the natural porosities of the materials, thus ensuring the typical breathability of the support. In this way, capillary penetration is considerably reduced and any moisture present inside is disposed of as water vapor. The CO.LORI water-repellent and consolidating products are a range of products designed to defend and restore construction materials, making use of various technologies and providing a suitable response to a great diversity of applications.
